Corduroy Blazer

Bouncing off this post, I'm all about making preppy/classic items just a bit trendier. This J.Crew blazer screams old school Ivy, but I wanted to make it a bit more casual with my Supergas and my Elvis tee. This look also showcases how I love to accessorize with dainty, simple pieces; lots of rings and a simple medallion necklace (this beauty was my aunt's!).

Friday Faves 1.27

Happy Friday! I have a ton of items to share yet again in this week's post.

J O U R N A L S

I started keeping a Moleskine journal back in March and I find it so therapeutic. Sure, it adds to my overall aesthetic when I'm writing in it at my favorite coffee shop, but I really love writing things down. Anything from blog ideas, quotes, doodles, lyrics, a memory, anything. I find it lets me dump out my thoughts on paper in a creative way. I keep other journals for business/school things, like this 'Making Things Happen' one from Marshall's (they have tons of cute ones for $3-$7!). And this marble one!? Strictly used for decor because I think it's so cute! 😅

I got this gem at the RM sample sale a few months back. I forgot about it for a while to be honest, then I finally pulled it out of the dust bag before I went home for winter break and since then I can't stop using it. I love how it's neutral but still makes a statement. I also love how it still surprisingly fits a ton despite it's size.

I feel like my 7th grade skater/angsty phase self would absolutely love these. To be honest I got these because I saw a lot of bloggers sporting them, and I see them all the time on the streets of the city. No, I don't plan on buying a skateboard but I love the vibe these give an outfit. I especially love how these look with some 501 jeans and a tee.

My hair has been so fun to style lately. I really love the length of it and for some reason I've been really into styling it (usually I'd throw it up in a bun and be done with it). I started to use this oil serum I found in my room at home once I came here for break and I've been using this a ton. I use it on dry and wet hair - dry when it looks kind of dull or straw like, and when it's wet I use it to smooth it out. I don't see any dramatic change in my hair but this is lightweight and doesn't make my feel oily, so I'm a fan. As for Triple Sec, I love when my hair looks messy or 'dirty', like I just rolled out of bed, and this product makes that achievable. It gives it texture, volume, and smells amazing.

YOU GUYS. I've always preached about using beauty products for multiple uses, but I never really followed through with that for myself. Until now!!! I was watching makeup tutorials on YouTube and saw a guru use this as her blush. But this color caught my attention due to the fact it's what I use as eyeshadow and lip stick. It's the Bite multistick, which is meant to be used as blush, shadow, or lipstick. It has a cream texture when you first apply it, then it 'dries' matte/powder like. It isn't drying on your lips either, it feels like nothing is there. I'm a huge fan of this on my eyes simply because it takes 2 seconds to apply and blend out with my finger.

This product isn't completely out of this world, but I wanted to give it an honorable mention. I usually just use my makeup wipes to get my eye makeup off. But lately, I feel like I'm constantly rubbing and tugging at my eyes with them, which is a huge no-no (causes wrinkles!). I saw this travel size of the Garnier Micellar Water in Target and figured it was worth a shot. I like it because it gets everything off, without having to scrub and irritate my eye. I just douse a cotton ball with it and wipe it over my eye. It's also not greasy or irritating and leaves no residue - it doesn't even feel like I used it when I'm done!

What're you loving this week?

Menswear

The moment I first saw this blazer from Madewell (on sale now!) I knew I had to have it. I've always been dressing 'like the guys' but this one screamed menswear to me probably due to it's oversized look and structured shoulders (and I could totally see Matty Healy wearing it). To add a little feminine touch I wore this textured skirt that I got from the J.Crew sample sale. I love the contrast in textures and the fact they're both black but look different.

Parisian Prep

I posted a preview of this look on Instagram, thinking it has some nice Parisian vibes to it, and later CF regarded it as 'preppy' so I'm rolling with it. Normally I'd be annoyed of that term, but how can you go wrong with classic style? I've also warmed up to the thought of mixing brown and black together; I felt it flowed nicely with this look.

January Playlist

When's the last time I shared some music with you guys? This month's playlist is basically a mix of what I've been loving the past few months all combined into one. Honorable mentions include Post Malone's new album and basically everything by Day Wave - they're my most played from this particular playlist.

I've also been loving making random playlists, like a throwback one and a chill playlist. Follow me on Spotify to see them all.

Graphic Tee Lookbook

I've been meaning to make a video showcasing the different ways I style my graphic tees and I finally got around to doing so! I'm so excited to share this quick video showing some outfits and how I like to style my tees.

Hope you enjoyed. XO

Friday Faves 1.6

Happy 2017! It's my first Friday Faves/ blog post of the year. I truly thought I would have gotten a lot more posts up while I'm home for Christmas break, but life has been pretty crazy since the moment I got home (to put it lightly). I have a lot to talk about in this favorites post since it's been so long since the last time I did one & because of the new things I got for Christmas.

F R A G R A N C E

Over the past few months I've been really into exploring perfumes to pick out my signature scent. I've always loved this Chloe perfume, but was so hesitant because of the price tag. Luckily, my mom got it for me for Christmas (probably because she was so sick of me talking about it since summer!). It's so light, fresh and feminine and how cute is the bottle? Ironically the day after I got Chloe, I found a sample of this Versace fragrance in my room and immediately fell in love with it. I purchased it right away and I'm so glad I did. It's a cologne, but I love how musky and earthy it is. I'm obsessed with musky/woodsy scents, even with candles, and if you are too you'd love this.

I've been meaning to talk about my favorite candles on the blog for a while, but of course, I just never got around to it. I'm obsessed with candles; I light them while I do homework, when I'm watching Netflix, etc. I truly think there's nothing better than the vibe of having a ton of candles lit. Anyway, my favorite affordable candles are from DW Home, which I get at TJMaxx/Marshall's. They're potent and have so many great scent options for cheap. For Christmas, I got these candles that not only smell great, but have gorgeous jars. Anthropologie has this candle (in 'Fireside') that smells like summer nights filled with bonfires and this New York candle smells really light and fresh.

Glossier has done it yet again, with their Black Tie Set. This set has limited edition products, but I'm truly hoping the brand makes these products permanent. It comes with an eyeliner, lip gloss, Haloscope highlighter, and Glossier Pink nail polish. The eyeliner is the perfect amount of smudgey, and it's not jet black, which makes it suitable for anyone and not very harsh. The nail polish not only dries very quickly, it doesn't chip nearly as much as other polishes I've used in the past. I'm still learning the best way to apply the Haloscope but until then I'll simply just be obsessed with the color. It's a blue irredescent and unlike anything else in my makeup collection. Now the best for last, the lip gloss. I cannot get over how hydrating and gorgeous this looks on my lips. It gives you such a healthy looking pout, and the best part? It's not sticky! If you want to try out Glossier, (this set will sell out soon!) use my code here for 20% off your first order.

Velvet has been a trend for a few months now, but I haven't gotten many velvet pieces in a while. For Christmas I got this gorgeous velvet peplum cami and this slightly oversized velvet blazer. I'm obsessed with them both and they're so easy to style, which is a plus. I hope velvet never goes 'out of style' (does anything really go out of style anymore?) anytime soon!

In case you missed my social posts on it, I'm featured in College Fashionista's New Years video! I'd absolutely love it if you watched it, it was so fun to make!

It's zero surprise that I'm obsessed with graphic tees, but I wanted to share my two new favorites. I got this Ramones tee (styled here) & Elvis mugshot shirt for Christmas and I've been wearing them to death. I just love the effortless vibe of throwing them on with a great pair of jeans.

I've wanted these sunglasses FOREVER but never thought I could pull them off. I said enough is enough, and got them regardless if they looked silly on me. I wish I could tell you I've worn these everyday since I got them, but of course it's rained each day. If you haven't invested in a nice pair of Ray-Bans I highly suggest it; you can feel the quality difference in them and it's is so worth it.
