Heartbreaker

If I'm given the opportunity, I will always choose black for an outfit; can't tell you how many times I've worn blackout outfits at school. Here's a summery way to wear black featuring Kendra Scott & Tory Burch:

May Favorites

So last month's favorites were all beauty and I decided to give a little bit of everything for May. Here are a few items I've been loving recently during the month of May.

may favorites
1. ALESSO'S FOREVER ALBUM- I'm a huge fan of Alesso, so much to the point that I added him on snapchat so I can get updates from him. This album is great, although some of the songs have been out for a while. My favorites are Destinations, Sweet Escape, and Scars.

2. QUAY SUNGLASSES IN "BREAKFAST CLUB"- Ok, I'm being a tad excessive with explaining how much I love these shades. They're unlike anything I've ever had; the mirrored lenses are awesome. I chose to get the clear frames since they match everything. My Ray-Bans give me weird indents on my nose, ultimately taking some foundation off, but these Quay ones sit so nicely. Highly recommend!

3. KATE SPADE WALLET- I'm not sure what style this is, but it's the basic ones they always have. This one is in a beautiful cream color and I love it because it 1, goes with all my bags, and 2 because it looks so classy. It has the perfect amount of pockets/slots for cards.

4. NOT YOUR MOTHER'S SEA SALT SPRAY- I use this in my hair before I curl it. I think it gives a lot more texture and helps the curls stay longer. Sometimes if I'm feeling lazy I won't style my hair and I'll just spray this and scrunch my hair up a little.

5. J.CREW FACTORY WHITE JEANS- I had never owned white jeans until about two weeks ago! Crazy, I know, because they're a staple. They give my outfits such a summer-y vibe.

6. A THOUSAND WISHES BODY SPRAY FROM BATH & BODY- Not much to say, just what I've been reaching for when I pick my perfume for the day!

7. BEAUTY BLENDER SPONGE- I started to use this again once I got home from school since it's not a hassle to wet it like it was when I was away. It makes your foundation/concealer blend flawlessly! It soaks up excess product too so you're not a cake face. See me using it in my recent makeup post.

8. LONGCHAMP IN "GUNMETAL"- I didn't use my Longchamp tote very much at school but I use it almost everyday now! It's perfect to throw things in and go. It fits soooo much compared to my Speedy.

9. COASTAL LINEN CANDLE FROM TARGET- I love either really musky or really fresh smelling candles, this for one is super clean smelling. It makes my room smell so clean and airy!

10. STEVE MADDEN SANDALS IN COGNAC- I'm not 100% on the style of this sandal, but they were recently on sale at my local Steve Madden. I wear these to work at J.Crew and they're super comfy.

11. J.CREW CHAMBRAY TANK- This shirt is soooo comfy! The chambray shirts that J.Crew has been releasing lately are super soft and drapey which I love. It goes with everything too! The sizing is really off though, I got a 4 and its still pretty huge.

12. ICED COFFEE- Okay I have a problem. I might as well just have an IV of this stuff because of how frequently I've been drinking it. I either wake up in the morning and drive to Dunkin' Donuts, or while I'm at work I make some. I can have it at 9pm and go to bed at 10 if I really wanted too. Although I love it, I've noticed I've gotten really dehydrated because I've ignored h2o.

13. OLD SPICE DEODORANT- Call me crazy, but men's deodorant is SO MUCH BETTER. I used to by Clinical Strength by Secret and I'd still sweat. This doesn't have the white residue either!

Let me know if you try any of these products!

Mirrored Vision

So if you follow me on Instagram, you know I recently received my first pair of Quay (Pronounced "key") sunglasses and I'm OBSESSED. They're like nothing I've ever had and much cheaper than my beloved Ray-Bans. I'm definitely getting another Quay pair ASAP.

Love this new location too!

A day in the life: My 19th Birthday

This past Friday was my 19th birthday, words can't describe how thankful I am for the day I had!

Tour My Vanity!

I thought it would be fun to show you all a little peek into my makeup drawers and what I keep on my vanity. Aside from fashion, makeup is another huge love of mine. I've been trying to use up what I have before I buy anything this summer; I have way too much makeup to be blowing money on things I don't need! (Took me a while to realize this lol.)

Feelin' Geometric

It was a super chilly summer day today (only reached about 50 degrees!) so a sweatshirt outfit was in order. These Minnie pants from J.Crew make it a little more dressy, along with adding the button-up underneath.

Tuesday's Quick Tip

I recently headed to my local Target for some more cheap face masks that I have been using recently. Like every other time I'm at Target, I buy things I don't need whether it's makeup or shoes. Luckily this time the extra unneeded items were only 99 cents (very rare occasion). I wanted to share a little tip I have for trying new products.

Minimal

Sometimes less is more for an outfit. Here's my take on a minimalistic look.

A pop of color on the lip is all you need. My shoes and shirt are probably my favorite part of the look (shirt reminds me of Chanel!)

Hangin' at Syracuse

My best friend Sarah and I ventured up to Syracuse University in hopes to find people to pose for my CollegeFashionista posts (didn't have the best luck). Even though we couldn't find many fashionistas we still had fun taking pics and exploring the campus!

(When you realize you should've applied to go there)

This has been my go to outfit for everything lately!

Check out Sarah's bracelets here!

May's Money Well Spent

In May's Money Well Spent I'm telling you what I think are great staple items for starting your summer. Each month I'll give you a few things that will help build your wardrobe over time and those that I think are worth splurging on. (Quality over quantity is huge for me!)

may's money well spent

For May, I think a wristlet, pair of Jack Rogers, and a quality pair of Ray-Bans is ideal for starting your summer.

1. Wristlet- a wristlet is perfect for throwing a few dollars, your keys, and a chapstick and running out the door. Perfect for day when you don't want to lug around a purse! I love using my wristlet when I go out to eat, go get ice cream, or a baseball game. I use it a lot for running quick errands too. My favorite wristlet is from Kate Spade. Kate Spade has tons of cute prints and bold colors that are perfect for summer. It has a zipper in front where I keep my coins. The main compartment is pretty spacious and can fit a decent amount for the bag's size. The leather it's made of doesn't get worn or wrinkly like some other kinds of bags, making it last and still look new (and worth the splurge!) ($78)

2. Jack Rogers- I adore my Jacks because they're well made and super comfy once you break them in. They look good with dressed up or casual outfits so they're very versatile. I suggest getting a neutral color for your first pair; white, silver, gold, or my favorite, platinum. ($119)

3. Ray-Ban Sunglasses- I have two pairs of the aviators, one brown and one black, and I think they are the most flattering style on everyone. You can really tell the difference between the quality of cheap sunglasses vs. Ray-Bans. They sit on your face better and aren't bulky. I love mine and I always keep them in the case when not in use- very important for keeping them unscratched and bent!! ($150, can be found cheaper if you shop around)

Bejeweled

I'm home for the summer, so that means more fashion posts!
Today I'm wearing one of my favorite sleeveless tops from J.Crew, paired with Jack Rogers, and cropped white jeans.

Mother's Day

Taking a moment to appreciate my wonderful mother and best friend! I am so thankful to have her in my life and I cannot wait to see her this Tuesday.

The greatest part about my mother is how similar we are. We can talk for hours about our favorite bloggers, celebrities, J.Crew, and also my future in fashion (she's so excited for me). She's famous for her "what's goin' on?" texts just to see what I'm up to, no matter how boring it could be. I'm guilty for stealing from her closet and giving her puppy eyes whenever I want to wear something of hers (looking forward to doing this again when I'm home). Most importantly, she's my biggest fan and supporter. If I wanted to jump off a bridge, she would be there with a sign saying "Go Shelb!".
So glad I was blessed with a fabulous mother, wouldn't change a thing about her!

Happy Mother's Day.

Mid-Week Inspiration

With finals starting, going home next week, and the joy of finishing my freshman year of college, I'm having some trouble focusing. If you're like me, you might need a little inspiration to get you through the week.

Stay motivated!
xoxo,
Shelby

OOTD featuring Kendra Scott

Today had a high of 80 degrees and unfortunately I couldn't take time to sit outside since I had four classes as well as a meeting. To make my busy day a little more enjoyable, I paired my favorite sandals with some bright J.Crew shorts.

Where to buy:

Disclaimer: Fashion posts will be better quality once I'm home for the summer and have my new camera :-)

Netflix shows I've been loving

This semester I've learned to budget my time a lot better; in other words: make time for Netflix.

House of Cards
If you know me you know I really enjoy politics, and this show presents it in a whole new way. Frank Underwood is so manipulative but you gotta love him. Although I'm someone to check my phone or get distracted by other things, you really can't with this series. It's pretty fast paced and you need to pay attention to get the tiny details. House of Cards is also known for its symbolism, pay attention to them! Also, Claire Underwood's fashion is TO DIE for.

How I Met Your Mother
I have to say, I never knew what the hype was about, but I adore this show. How I Met Your Mother is actually the perfect show because it's funny, realistic, and also has meaningful moments. I had seen episodes of this randomly when my dad would watch it but you really need to start from the beginning to get the full effect. It's 9 seasons long but worth every episode.

Some shows I plan to binge watch this summer include Friday Night Lights (half way through the series, never got around to finishing it!), Scandal, and my guilty pleasure: Dance Moms.

What are you guys watching lately?
