April Favorites! (Makeup products)

things i've been loving 4/28
As the warmer months are on their way I've been trying to get my skin glowy and fresh for summer. I've chosen some of my favorite products that truly have been working for me and giving great results!

  1. L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24 Hour Foundation: I bought this foundation on a whim because I saw it was relatively new and my skin has been starting to get oily again. This foundation is honestly amazing. I used to use Covergirl 3 in 1 foundation but that one is almost too matte. The L'Oreal foundation claims to be demi-matte finish which gives you a skin-like look. I was using MAC studio fix fluid before this and everyone around me claimed this foundation looks less cakey than the MAC (and it's one third of the price, win!)
  2. Milani lip liner in "Tawny": I had heard about this lip liner for years by watching Carli Bybel on YouTube. I finally found Milani products at my local Walgreens and little did I know it was only 2 bucks for this. Even better, I love it! I wear it alone almost everyday for a subtle hint of color and sometimes I'll put a lip gloss over it. Perfect for those afraid to wear a dramatic lip but still want something on their lips.
  3. Too-Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: I hate to admit that I ADORE this mascara. I've never really been a fan of buying high end mascara because I feel like it dries up and works as good as drugstore. I have the sample size of this now and I'm so upset that it's almost gone. One coat of this and it looks like you have falsies, promise.
  4. MAC Fix+ spray: I bought this originally when I was on Accutane and had really dehydrated skin. It contains glycerin so it hydrates the skin. Although I have been off the drug for almost 4 months now (happy dance!) I still use it because it makes your foundation/powder settle better and really makes you look fresh. Sometimes I get a little powder crazy but after a few spritz of this, it looks perfect. I also use this to refresh my makeup throughout the day. I used to use setting sprays from Urban Decay but they're $10 dollars more and don't work as well for me. Another use for this is spraying your eyeshadow brush before applying a metallic eyeshadow; it makes the pigment more intense. Also, I'm not sure if other people do this but I even use this as a primer before my foundation!
  5. Physician's Formula Bronze Booster in Light/Medium: Okay guys, after all these years I finally listened to my mother and decided to tone down the massive amount of bronzer I put on my face. With this product, it gives the absolute perfect amount of color without looking orangey. Even if I do get a little heavy handed with this it still looks like a natural glow.
  6. LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub: This is pretty self explanatory, its an awesome scented lip scrub. I know it may be a little ridiculous to buy this when you can easily use some oil & sugar but you cant recreate the scent! My lips have been super flaky (I still feel like it's from accutane) and this changes that as soon as I'm done scrubbing, they look brand new.
  7. Anastasia highlighting powder in "Champagne": LOVE. This is my first powder highlighter and I got this when making my custom contour palette on Anastasia's website. This is gorgeous. It's more yellow-toned rather than the typical white, iridescent highlight. This is so finely milled that it doesn't look chunky or sparkly on the skin!
  8. Benefit Rockateur boxed blush: I'm coming to the end of my second box of this blush and I'm still not sick of it. I bought this before my senior ball and I'm not kidding when I say I've used it practically everyday since. Sometimes I have to talk myself into using my other blushes but I always go back to this! It's a beautiful rose gold color with the slightest hint of shimmer; it literally makes you glow. I originally bought this because I needed a blush that would look nice on my (translucently) pale skin at the time and I only had bright pinks/berry colors which were too harsh.
  9. Clarisonic Mia 2: Ever since ending my long five months on Accutane I've been really into my skincare. As soon as I took my last pill I started to use my Clarisonic for the first time in years, and wow could I tell a difference in my skin. Your face feels like butter and it's so deeply cleansed afterwards. I use a gentle cleanser with mine, nothing too harsh. I stopped using it for a month just because I didn't get around to charging it (stupid excuse, I know) and my boyfriend asked why I was breaking out; I instantly figured out it was because of my lack of exfoliating and deep cleansing with this!
  10. Simple brand Micellar Water: For the longest time I've wanted to try Bioderma, a European cleansing water, and I was literally willing to spend $30 on Amazon to ship to America for it just to try. Luckily, I wasn't crazy and Simple brand came out with a $7 bottle of this magical water. It gently takes off your makeup and soothes your skin. Eye makeup removers sometimes sting my eyes but this is wonderful. Plus, it can be used all over your face!
  11. LUSH Breath of Fresh Air toner: This toner is softening and soothing for the skin, perfect for after I use my Clarisonic. I still have issues with redness and the aloe in this really calms it down. It's so refreshing! I use this at night and my MAC Fix+ in the morning, usually.
  12. Maybelline FIT Me Concealer: I've been using this concealer for about a year now and I will continue to buy it! It's lightweight, not cakey, and perfect coverage. I've heard it's a dupe for the NARS creamy concealer, which I have never tried, but don't see myself trying anytime soon since this is so great.
  13. POND's Makeup Removing Wipes (Original): I've tried various types of makeup removing wipes over the years. They either don't remove the makeup well enough or irritate my skin/eyes. These are the perfect amount of remover on the pad and they never dry out. I typically have to use two wipes to completely take everything off, but one is enough with these!

My Official Summer Playlist

Since my summer finally begins in about two weeks I'm creating a new playlist to get ready. This is a compiled list of some of my favorite songs at the moment:

Hope you found a new song or two!

Lazy Day Outfits

Regardless of my major, sometimes I just can't handle looking extravagant on some days. These outfits go out to all my girls who still want to look cute but don't feel like getting decked out. And with finals approaching, these can still apply to the "dress well, test well" method.

Lazy Day Outfits

Classy: This outfit consists of a simple black tee, layered necklaces and a few arm candys to look like you actually tried to pull an outfit together. The Tory Burch flats add to the "trying" aspect as well as the Louis Vuitton speedy bag.

Comfy: I wore this type of outfit more than I should have when the snow started to thaw here in Oneonta. A long sleeve Vineyard Vines tee, cropped leggings, and my Nike Roshes were my uniform for a long time. If I really wasn't feeling it, I'd throw on a Ralph Lauren or Vineyard Vines hat. When it was still cool I would put on a vest to make myself look a little more pulled together.

Combo: This is a mix of both comfy and casual. The Patagonia tee is super comfortable and lightweight and the jean shorts make it look a lot nicer than a pair of Nike ones for example. The Longchamp is the perfect mix of style and durability (I need to use mine more than I do, great bag). My Jacks always seem to make my outfits look classier than they really are.

My First Post!

Welcome to The Gold Dime blog, where you'll find fashion and lifestyle posts along with anything else I find to share with you. Bear with me; as I'm still getting the hang of BlogSpot! Let me tell you a little bit about myself:

I have just come to the end of my freshman year of college where I major in Fashion Merchandising! I will be an intern for the website, CollegeFashionista.com, beginning May 18th! Since I landed that, I decided what better time to start my own blog? My love of fashion truly began when I became a fan of J.Crew and everything it stands for, thanks to my best friend/mother. Also exciting news for this summer, I will be working at J.Crew part time! I'd like to call myself a coffee addict; you can almost always find me at my campus' Starbucks or in town at our local coffee shop. My love for traveling has increased significantly over the years which makes me excited for the traveling possibilities that could come with my future career. New York City has my heart. Along with managing my blog posts for CFashionista and learning the ropes at J.Crew I will also be serving ice cream at my local stand for my fifth summer in a row! I'm really looking forward to a jam-packed summer at home but while also visiting some friends  and my boyfriend on Long Island.
I can't wait to see where The Gold Dime goes in the future and thank you for reading!
